True that all language is changing, but we need to fight the degradation of communication. Accuracy in communication is important to cultural survival and growth. The "TH" sounds for example, distinguish between word meanings, not just accent.

I ve been to Harlem in Manhattan and what Sergio is saying is true, if you compare people from downtown to uptown of manhattan you are gonna notice how different their English is.

New York City, being a cosmopolitan, can probably only be described as having a portmanteau accent. We indeed do find tendencies such as a New York accent, but the huge number of outsiders influence or even outweigh these tendencies.
